Grand Rapids, Michigan · one-off parts
CNC machining in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for one-off and low-volume parts
Cyclone Machining Co. is a prototype and R&D machine shop at 4674 Clay Ave SW, Suite D, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49548. One part is a complete job here: quoted from the print, set up once, measured, shipped. Not a sample, not a favour.
What we cut
Aluminum (6061, 7075), alloy steel (4140, 4340), titanium, Inconel 718, magnesium and carbon fiber. Each metal gets the removal strategy it needs, not the one the machine defaults to.
What it runs on
A DMU 70 evo linear for five-axis simultaneous work: one setup, one datum, every face. Two compact vertical mills, a manual knee mill and a CNC lathe beside it.
Finishing, in-house
Honing on a dedicated Sunnen machine, vapor blasting, shot peening worked for service rather than shine, grinding and hand surfacing. Finishing only, on parts made elsewhere, is a yes.
Welding and fabrication
TIG precision work in stainless, aluminum, titanium and Inconel; rotary draw bending on dedicated benders for exhaust routing, coolant lines and structural tubing.
Quantities of one to a few
A single part, a first article, a replacement for a machine that is down, a fixture, a bracket nobody else will quote. The part another shop handed back is read first here.
No drawing? Send the part
With no print, the part is the drawing: what failed tells the shop more than a drawing would. It is measured, modelled, cut, and the model is kept so the part can be made again.
What to send
STEP is the working format. IGES, DXF, native CAD and a PDF print all work. The geometry you draw is the geometry that reaches the spindle. Send it through the quote form at cyclonemachining.com/rfq, or email RFQ@CycloneMachining.com. A machine can file it too, through the agent door at https://for.cyclonemachining.com/api/rfq.
When
The floor is open 9 AM to 10 PM, seven days. The phone, (616) 990-1333, is answered 9 AM to 10 PM, seven days.
